Pretty Blue Paisley

The last time I wore this dress was to my friend's bridal shower in June (so far my cost-per-wear is something like $6), and I dressed it up with heels and a top-knot. I recently wore this to work and dressed it down with flat sandals and straight hair. This dress covers my shoulders, and arms, which is tough to find. I love sundresses, but for work I like more coverage. And wearing a sweater or jacket over every dress is unbearably hot. Enter a dress with sleeves! However, because of the fabric and cut of the dress, I don't quite have a full range of motion with my arms. If I stretch too far, I run the risk of splitting the seams. Good thing I avoided heavy lifting that day :D

*sigh*

The things we do for fashion, right? ;)

Mr. Picks Mondays: Purpley Purple

*twirl*twirl*twirl*

Funny story: my sweetie picked out a different dress for me to wear yesterday, but I negotiated with him to wear something else, since I had very recently worn that dress to work (I wore it but didn't take pictures - so did it really happen?). By the time I chose this one instead, he had already left for work for the morning (does it take anyone else FOREVER to decide what to wear? No? Just me?). When we were both home yesterday evening, I saw that he had worn his purple dress shirt with purple striped tie. So, we were twinsies without even knowing.

And, I'm not kidding when I say this, he looked so nice all dressed up and spiffed up in his purple. I don't mean to say that he doesn't always look nice every day for work, but some of his ensembles really stand out and make my heart go *pitter-pat* when I see him. Add in a dash of my favorite cologne, and

*swoon*

I'm sure glad I snagged him in high school, and that he comes home to me every day (every day that he doesn't have night projects for work, which is a lot lately, hence my fancy mirror pics. boo)

Too mushy? Sorry, back to the topic at hand - my clothes! I found this dress at a thrift store last summer, and after wearing it once or twice, decided it was a smudge too long and a wee bit too matronly. So, I took some scissors to it and cut off several inches, bringing it from calf-length, to above the knee. Now it feels much more age-appropriate. What do you think?

Colorblocking x2

I did some color-blocking TWO whole days in a row. The first with navy & lilac, the second with magenta & mauve. I think they turned out ok. There's definitely some room for improvement, but overall I didn't do TOO bad. What do you think? I need these critiques to improve my style! My sweet mom & husband usually have some constructive criticisms for me that I always appreciate - as long as they're delivered nicely, which they always are ;)

I made sure to incorporate color-blocking because of this link-up with Walking in Memphis in High Heels and The Fashion Canvas - check them out! Impressive, huh??

It's tough to see in these pictures, but the shirt is a nice coral-ey orange. Trust me!

And, ya know, just getting my pose on with my cute pup-ska-roos. A pretty casual outfit, but sometimes casual is the way to go. Can we all agree on that?

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Mr. Picks Mondays: a wee bit behind

Hi hi! Sorry for my extended (and unintended) absence - this week got away from me, once again! And this next week looks to be a busy one, too. Actually, let's be real - I'm pretty busy until October.

November, really.

Eh, more like closer to Thanksgiving.

So, see ya never?

I kid!

But bear with me, please! Promise I've been wearing clothes AND taking pictures of them for ya ;)

Have a great week!

coral stripes & mint & running

this is my "paparazzi shot" - "No pictures, please, just walking my dogs" ;)
juggling these 2 leashes can be pretty challenging...they like to criss-cross & trip us up...

Unrelated to my above outfit (do ya like?)...

So, I'm running another half-marathon with my Dad on the 22nd of September. Another 13.1 miles on a Colorado Sunday morning. I've been slacking on my training (sorry, Pops) but have picked it up again this past week. And I have to be honest with you, I'm really bad at running. I'm slow, and it hurts, and I'm really slow, and did I mention it hurts? It hurts my hips, my knees, my calves, my shins, and my feet, especially. My foam-roller and I have become besties, and I'm constantly asking D to rub out my legs or my feet or help me stretch. And, for some reason, I get constant blisters on my feet: on the balls of my feet, on my heels, on  my arches, BETWEEN my toes (I know, I didn't think it was possible, either), just about everywhere. It's no fun, my friends. And for whatever reason, my feet won't toughen up.

However, this is something I'm going to keep doing to get ready for my race with my Dad. Running has kind of become "our thing." By that, I mean we do races together, but my Dad can ACTUALLY run circles around me (and no, I'm NOT joking). The man can lap me and still hold a conversation and sing songs, while I'm gasping for breath and asking to slow down. He talks, and I respond with thumbs-up or thumbs-down, and when he's got extra energy (which is often), he runs backwards, or grapevines next to me. But he still runs the race with me - we finished our last half-marathon (which was our first) holding hands. Now that's love.

So, here's to buckling down and taking my training seriously until our race. Because then I've got two more races lined up after that...a 15k with a friend, and a half-marathon relay with my Mr.

Wish me luck!

Teal & Anchors (and a change of scenery!)

We ventured out after work one evening and even took some outfit pictures while we were at it. Normally, we both get home from work, and just want to veg out at home with each other and the pups, so heading somewhere else to take my outfit pictures isn't really an option.

We took these right after we hit up the Red Dot Boutique (Target) and got some Chipotle for dinner. T'was a fun time, let me tell you!

Now of course I didn't wear these shorts to work - they're a bit too short. I DID wear jeans, but it was too hot to keep them on, so I threw on my new(ish) anchor shorts and voila! Several degrees cooler, and I got to wear the cute printed shorts I like.
