it rocks

You guys. This vest-y thing - want to wear it ALL THE TIME. And it's so unlike me (the vest, not the wanting-to-wear-something-all-the-time). I never gravitate towards these types of things (fringe. longer than my shorts. not very structured or tailored.), but, the love is real.

And it was perfect for traipsing around a rock quarry-turned site-to-see rock garden just before the heavens opened up and covered everything in some nice (COLD) summer rain.

Truly, though, this look is nothing fancy - ribbed tank top, denim shorts, sandals. But, add a nice completer piece (like this vest - ta da!) and BAM. You have a fun summer outfit, quintessential for brunching with good friends and rock-gardening.

tank: WalMart
shorts: Plato's Closet via Maurice's
sandals: Kohl's
vest: c/o Aéropostale

30 for 30: Day 16

crazy fly-away hair...

This outfit is something I've never done before.

...drumroll please...

DENIM ON DENIM

I know, not groundbreaking for some people, but it definitely is for me! When I was in middle school and rocked my denim jacket ALL THE TIME, I refused to wear it with jeans - how would I ever find jeans that matched my jacket perfectly?? I simply couldn't.
So, said jacket was worn with everything BUT jeans.

However, now that chambray is in, and I've seen several other bloggers sport the light chambray on top, and dark denim on bottom, I thought I'd give it a try. I think it went pretty well - no one looked at me funny with an expression that said
"Do you realized you're wearing 2 different colors of denim? And that you look ridiculous?"
And that, my friends, is a win in my book.

Oh, why am I hugging a moose in the above  picture, you ask? Because my Mr. and I met up with my parents at Cabela's (it's like Disneyworld for guys who are into outdoors-y things), and my Dad and I have a thing for moose (NOT mooses, moose).

And when my Dad and I get together, we ham it up and play off each other BIG TIME. Basically, we have a really great time and laugh and tease each other until eventually my mom has to tell us to be quiet. We used to sit next to each other in church, but eventually my Mom would sit between us so we couldn't talk, or make each other laugh in the middle of the sermon
That's happened before.

During Christmas mass.
