Photo Bombed

Sometimes I can wear kids clothes. Like this vest. It's blue, it has glitter, and it's from GAP Kids. A friend of mine purchased this several years ago, and once upon a time, this friend gave me several bags of clothes she was getting rid of. In one of those bags was this sparkly blue vest. From GAP Kids.

And now, you see it here, on sweetbananie.blogspot.com

:)

I realize that everything (except my tanktop) in this post was thrifted, bought secondhand, or a hand-me-down. Would anyone be interested in hearing my thrifting tips? I just love a good thrift store - I've found some really great things! Let me know in the comments!

photobombing. she can't stand to not be included. even in blog pictures!

Fancy Schmancy Legging Pants

see the stripe?? see how fabulous they are??

These fancy schmancy leggings made an appearance on date night. We went to Olive Garden for some delicious soup, salad, and breadsticks, and then home to finish watching our latest obsession on Netflix, "Orange is the New Black." Have you seen it? It's an original series, based on the memoir of the same name, fictionalized & sensalized, of course. We love it. Watch it. And report back. Please :)

Do you see why I love these pants? Regular leggings with an edge, and I need all the edge I can get. They'll be great with a sweater and some boots this fall & winter - they're nice and thick and warm! We've had some cooler weather this past week, so I've been able to wear more transitional pieces without overheating.

Happy Monday tomorrow!

Family Dinner

that's a speakeasy behind me. been there 1 time. and it was neat.

sparkly shoes again! it's not that I WANTED to wear them, but that I HAD to. my heels were covered in blisters from my trip to Vegas, so something without backs were (was?) necessary #truestory
Mama, embarrassed by my lovin'

A few weeks ago, my parents came through town on their way home from Yellowstone. They swung by my work and got the grand tour, then headed downtown, where my Mr. & I met up with them for dinner. They had taken a guided kayaking tour and camped for a few days. They were full of stories of nature, and excitement for their hot showers and REAL bed they had slept in the night before.

They're pretty neat. And they go on cool trips. And SOMETIMES us kids get to go. But SOMEONE in our family has to work, I guess
 *sigh*
I'm a martyr over here, Mom & Dad.
I kid! You know I kid!

I mean, when you've been married (to the same person) for 30+ years, and have built successful careers doing what you love, and have the time AND money, it's totally acceptable to go cool places without inviting your grown children. I'm sure D & I will do the same. Someday.

Sort of related to the above topic, my parents call my brother and I their "bios" (biological children) and our spouses their "golden children" or the "chosen ones." Guess that proves who they like more.
Their daughter-in-law and son-in-law, obviously ;)

aaaaaand, linking up over here today

30 for 30: Day 30

Day 30

my skirt looks kind of purple here, but it's really gray

Ta-da! I finished my first 30 for 30 challenge! Wahoo! Happy dance! *THE CARLTON*

Anywaaaaaaays, it's done! And I've got a "recap/what I learned/what I would do differently/what I've taken away from this" post coming your way. Some of my professors always said one of the most important parts of the learning process is reflection, so, you'll get some of that shortly :)

*cue the song "Reflections" from Mulan*

Purple & Pups

Purple 2 days in a row – supporting the Rockies, you know ;)
We can only hope there's another Rocktober in our future!

I do LOVE baseball, but I don’t really follow professional ball. I’ll watch the Rockies if they happen to be on TV, and I love going to games, but overall, I’m a very fair weather fan. Must be all my brother’s games I sat through - I can’t tell you how many baseball games I’ve watched between him playing baseball, and me playing softball (thousands! millions?). And there were the multiple summers he played legion ball, and they had double headers.
Every.
Single.
Day.
#littlesisterproblems

Handsome making an appearance. But not showing off his good side.

I LOVE these sparkly flats. LOVE LOVE LOVE em.

And here's Pretty Girl & me - sniffing anything & everything.

I wore the scarf at work today (my office is freezing!), and the more layers I can wear, the better.

If you're wondering, they walk very slowly. They don't run - they "sprint" for 10 yards, then they're done. Not good running buddies, which is a bummer.
Not that I'm fast, but I'm much faster than them...

Apologies for the many fuzzy, unedited photos - my Mr. and I both lack photography skills. We're using a pink SONY Cybershot from 2007. Not kidding.
