me and kacey

For two (short) weekends in a row this summer, I went to a concert every weekend. First was Tim McGraw, and the most recent was Kacey Musgraves. We just missed her performance last summer at Sports Authority Field at Mile High before the Eli Young Band, Eric Church, and Kenny Chesney, and were reeeeeally bummed. So when I heard she was coming to Colorado (with shows in Aspen and Denver), I bought tickets right away.

Kacey performed at the Ogden Theatre in Denver and put on a really great show. The venue was smaller(ish), we grabbed a spot up in the balcony (right by the bar), and swayed and clapped along all night. I was a fan before, but now I'd say I'm a HUGE fan.
Girl can sing!
And play guitar!
And write songs!
She wrote "Mama's Broken Heart," made popular by the lovely Miranda Lambert. She played some songs off her new album and I can't wait for it to come out.

I wore my new arrow print tank from Aéropostale as a subtle nod to one of Kacey's songs "Follow Your Arrow," and even got complimented on my whole ensemble a few times at the show - a little country, a little sweet, a little (teeny-weeny-tiny-bit) edgy. Kinda. Sorta.

Flapper Girl

I wore this on a really great hair day. I washed my hair, blow dried it, and poof! All the blonde hairs on my head fell into place. This doesn't happen all too often...hardly ever, really...

So, I took this good hair day, combined it with a good outfit day, and took myself to get a beer after work with the Mr. and a few friends. Then headed home to love on the pups and watch the handsome one roll around in the grass.

Oh, and here's another lace/crochet skirt. It almost looks like a flapper's dress up close (almost), which is quite fitting ately - I've been listening to Flapper Girl by The Lumineers on repeat.

Nice to listen to, ain't it? ;)

Cheese & Wine

Waaay back at the end of May/beginning of June, we went on a fancy date night to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We went to a local wine and cheese place (The Welsh Rabbit)  - I was in wino heaven. D isn’t much for wine (he prefers beer), but I think he even enjoyed himself a teeny bit. He ordered a glass of a sweet white before moving on to a cider, and I had a flight of Austrian wines (Vienna, here I come!). And we also tried a variety of cheeses. Really, I think we tried at least 6. If not closer to 8. And all sorts of meats and salamis and crackers and other good eats.

After we were full of cheese and wine and meat and bread, we wandered around downtown and I picked up another Pioneer Woman cookbook (her first one – the only one I was missing). We then went to a new-ish whiskey bar and met a friend there for a drink. This girl steered clear of the whiskey (shots of Fireball are the only whiskey I’ll partake in) and had a refreshing Moscow Mule instead ;)

the far left was D's sweet white - the remaining 3 my Austrian flight
cheese. bread. meat.

New Favorite Skirt

This skirt is a new addition to my closet, directly from Aéropostale. When I found it in the store, I easily fell in love. And there was only one of my size left.
#meanttobe

The only thing I'd change about it would be that I could have also snagged it in cream (it was sold out online and in store - boo). Oh, and maybe a few more inches to the bottom, so I could wear my new favorite skirt to work :)
