the power of Pinterest

Since it's still hot(ish) here in Colorado, I'm going to keep wearing and taking pictures of summer clothes. I'm not one to exclaim "FALL! I LOVE FALL!", so, if you're expecting me to break out my sweaters and boots, you're going to be disappointed. There's plenty of time for layers during winter, and here, that lasts from November to April...

Let's say it's still summer here in Colorado (it is. fall doesn't start for another two weeks, all you pumpkin lovers). And let's say you've already worn this dress several times and need a new way to wear it. You hop on Pinterest (doesn't everyone?), and see an outfit featuring an A-line navy blue dress with a flowy scarf looped around the neck. You do your best to recreate this outfit with the pieces you already own, and you add a belt to keep your scarf under control in the Colorado wind. You also add metallic sandals that match your belt. Voila! A new outfit using pieces you already own. Made possible by the power of Pinterest ;)

ain't no sunshine

When you decide on a monochromatic look that you just luuuuurve, and your friend's boyfriend offers to be your photog (cause he does video editing and stuff for a living), you do it. Even if the sun is long gone. You find a cool background with a street light and do your best to show off your all white look with metallic accents - sunlight and its early curfew be damned.

And then, you enjoy another cocktail. And still manage to make it home without spilling anything on your all white outfit. TA DA!

30 for 30: day 17 + day 18

Aaaaah, Sunday. And also the day the Lilly for Target line is released...!!
So, please enjoy these two looks I've put together, and excuse me while I try to snag some Lilly goodies at my local Target store (or the one in the next town over. or the next one).

day 17

I tried to tie in some metallic elements with this all black and white ensemble for a little visual interest - my headband, scarf, jewelry, and the zippers on my booties. Sometime's it's nice to throw in a little metal with a simple outfit to spice it up.

This outfit is something I threw together in an early morning haze. I added the belt to add some shape to this comfy dress. It's pretty great for wearing to work - sleeves, hits at my knees, pockets, and doesn't require any special slips or bras.

Mr. Picks Mondays: Not Dressed for Fall

My Mr. picked this out for today. I love this dress - it's bright, & cheery it's comfortable, and it's conservative enough to wear to work. I was set. I went to work, did my thing, then sometime this afternoon the clouds rolled in. The RAIN clouds rolled in. And with them, cooler temperatures. Extremely cooler temps - we're talking in the 60s, whereas over the weekend we were in the 90s. So, I was a wee bit chilly and dressed for the wrong season by this afternoon.

I guess I should start thinking about dressing for fall...

Moral of the story: Colorado weather will always keep you guessing, and you WILL dress for the wrong season.
No matter what your weather app tells you.

my new sandals from Target - they're the best of mix of metallic sandals: gold, silver, AND copper

In other news, Sons of Anarchy is back on tomorrow night - weeeeeeeeee! Anyone else a fan? I was never into motorcycles (or riding) until D introduced me to the show last summer. A few episodes in, I was hooked. Maybe it's because my life is NOTHING like the show? I mean, they're a motorcycle club (MC) that runs guns and drugs, and they operate an auto shop as the legal side of their business.

Anyways, it's really good, and you should get into it. And then we can talk about it. Tweet me.

PS - Charlie Hunnam (Jax from Sons) was just announced as Christian Grey for the 50 Shades of Grey movie.
