sweater #7 + open to interpretation #8

Since it's Monday, and it's cold and snowing, here are two outfit posts in one to start your week off.
Enjoy!

I love the look of this sweater dress. The color, the pockets, the long sleeves. However, it's a bit sheer, and a bit itchy, so I have to wear something underneath it (like a button up shirt). and then whatever I wear under it bunches kinda funny. So, besides that little bitty feature, this sweater dress is perfect. And makes sweater #7.

This gray cardigan makes sweater #8. This is one of those "open to interpretation" sweaters I mentioned here. It's cut like a sweater, but it's really a cotton knit. But I say it counts. Especially since I wear and style it as a sweater.

Glad we can all agree on that.

predictable

This has become a "uniform" of sorts. Button-up (preferably plaid and/or flannel), skinnies, fun shoes (maybe boots or booties, or sometimes borrowed oxfords from a friend), and occasionally a scarf.
And a faux-leather jacket on top is practically perfection.
Sometimes I'm pretty predictable...

AERO NOW and Minty-Teal Plaid

This plaid shirt from Aéropostale has quickly become a new favorite in my closet – it makes me wonder “How often is too often to wear this?” It’s not like jeans or shoes that you can wear repeatedly without fear of getting called out for wearing the same thing over and over. It’s bright minty-teal, with fun lace-detailing on the back, so it stands out. I’ve got a lot of clothes, so I guess I feel silly when I wear the same thing twice (or more!) in quick succession. Not sure why – if I like it, I should wear it, and everyone can…a-hem, get over it...and stop making Western jokes...
Right?
We’ll go with that…

Be sure to check out Aéro’s new collection, AERO NOW, which launched just a few days ago.

(more) Sweaters and (more) Transitional Dressing

Are you sick of me showing you 2 outfits in 1 post, yet? If not, are you sick of sweaters yet? Either way, here are two more spring transitional looks - warm sweaters in pastel and bright colors. Which is perfect, since we're supposed to get snow today :/

Mr. Picks Mondays: "Dweater"

You might recognize this dress from this past summer - I wore it to a sorority sister's wedding. Several other sisters came up and stayed with us, so my lucky Mr. got to be our DD,
as well as our "chaperone."

The reason he chose this dress for the latest Mr. Picks Mondays was because I had just finished re-pretty-ify-ing my closet and re-hanging and re-folding (almost) everything. So, this dress was prominently displayed, and he chose it for me to wear.

Since the back of the dress is open, I chose a warm sweater to make it work appropriate, and then kept the sweater on all day. My fleece-lined tights were a finishing touch - you know I love 'em (so warm & comfy!)

What do you think? Too summery? Or did the abundance of textures (lace, chunky sweater, cable-knit tights, and a polka dot scarf) make it winter appropriate? Personally, I'm a fan of how it turned out.

Teal & Anchors (and a change of scenery!)

We ventured out after work one evening and even took some outfit pictures while we were at it. Normally, we both get home from work, and just want to veg out at home with each other and the pups, so heading somewhere else to take my outfit pictures isn't really an option.

We took these right after we hit up the Red Dot Boutique (Target) and got some Chipotle for dinner. T'was a fun time, let me tell you!

Now of course I didn't wear these shorts to work - they're a bit too short. I DID wear jeans, but it was too hot to keep them on, so I threw on my new(ish) anchor shorts and voila! Several degrees cooler, and I got to wear the cute printed shorts I like.

Triple Print Mixing Triple Threat

sorority girl pose - as natural as breathin'

I did a side braid, and then braided that into a bigger french braid

I mixed THREE whole prints in this number! THREE! Granted, 2 of them are polka dots, but they're different sizes, so I say it counts :) My shirt has some white stripes, hard to see, I know, but trust me, they're there. I even got complimented on this outfit by a total stranger, in the bathroom, at the public library. Odd, yes? Flattering? You betcha ;)

This blazer is from Aeropostale. I knew it would be a great addition to my closet as soon as I saw it, since it can go over the top of just about anything (and it's really soft). I'm looking forward to wearing it as a light jacket, or as a blazer.

Now, you'll never hear me say I love cold weather. I am a sun&sand&heat&summer-lover, through and through. That being said, I AM excited to wear this jacket, and some other new things I've acquired, in the cooler months. There's not much like wearing new clothes for the first few times, am I right? And also, being that I live somewhere where it can snow in October just as easily as January or May, or even June, I'm very comfortable layering and thinking of clothes in terms of what I can wear them under or over. So, I am a wee bit excited to layer and wear scarves and add more depth to my outfits without sweating in the heat ;)
