Pink & Orange Stripes

This outfit came out to play in October, so I'm doing a bit of blogging catch up (that, and I'm CRAZY busy for the next few days! more to come later...)

The shoulders of the shirt are bright pink, and the rest of the stripes are orange. My vest (remember this?) is cream-ish, my scarf is ombre, going from dark pink to tan.
And you can probably figure out the pants and jeans :)

vest: thrifted (Levi's)

30 for 30: Day 17

I know what you're thinking.

"WHAT WAS SHE thinking with this outfit? Tweed blazer, black, black, scarf? WHAT???"

However, I can explain. I typed

"pink tweed blazer"

into Pinterest (my Pinterest boards leave a lot to be desired, I know - I try to limit my time on there, as it's SO. ADDICTING.) And saw several images, specifically this pin that led me to theglamandglitter.com. Instead of dressing up the tweed blazer (like I had thought about), she dressed it down with distressed denim. I always saw other images that paired blacks & grays with the blazer, allowing the pink tweed to take center stage. So, that was my inspiration.

My execution might have been a little off, but the thought was there! I did need a scarf though, because 1) it was cold outside
2) I was wearing just a plain white tank under the blazer, so I needed to cover up a bit (did I mention that I'm wearing basic tanks under items that are need a little extra during this challenge? cause I am)

So, fashion forward? Or fashion fail?

And for reference, here is the last time I wore this blazer on the blog...in May...when it snowed...grrr

30 for 30: Day 16

crazy fly-away hair...

This outfit is something I've never done before.

...drumroll please...

DENIM ON DENIM

I know, not groundbreaking for some people, but it definitely is for me! When I was in middle school and rocked my denim jacket ALL THE TIME, I refused to wear it with jeans - how would I ever find jeans that matched my jacket perfectly?? I simply couldn't.
So, said jacket was worn with everything BUT jeans.

However, now that chambray is in, and I've seen several other bloggers sport the light chambray on top, and dark denim on bottom, I thought I'd give it a try. I think it went pretty well - no one looked at me funny with an expression that said
"Do you realized you're wearing 2 different colors of denim? And that you look ridiculous?"
And that, my friends, is a win in my book.

Oh, why am I hugging a moose in the above  picture, you ask? Because my Mr. and I met up with my parents at Cabela's (it's like Disneyworld for guys who are into outdoors-y things), and my Dad and I have a thing for moose (NOT mooses, moose).

And when my Dad and I get together, we ham it up and play off each other BIG TIME. Basically, we have a really great time and laugh and tease each other until eventually my mom has to tell us to be quiet. We used to sit next to each other in church, but eventually my Mom would sit between us so we couldn't talk, or make each other laugh in the middle of the sermon
That's happened before.

During Christmas mass.

[juxta]posing in October

I forget to mention in yesterday's post, but I'm more than halfway done with my 30 for 30 challenge! I'm excited to be almost done, although this has been a great exercise in wearing basics, and utilizing the basics & neutral colors I already have in my closet.

Veering away from what I said above, here's this bright/white/dark shirt/is it fall?/is it summer? outfit. I wore this on a very warm day at the end of October, proving that you CAN wear white after Labor Day. Just be sure to do it appropriately - intentionally, and with layers.

This is the first time I've worn a scarf belted - ever tried it before? What did you think?

30 for 30: Day 15

Looking at these pictures now, this outfit looks like I tried to be a little "tough" (black boots, black sweater, olive green pants), but then I veered the other direction wearing a scarf with hearts on it.

Pass?

Fail?

There IS something to be said for "juxtaposing" looks/styles/seasons/textures/aesthetics.
Right?? Right.

I wasn't thinking that when I put this outfit together - I really just wanted to wear my green pants (have I mentioned they're incredibly comfortable?) and my new scarf. I've found that lately (and by lately, I mean since the first day of this 30 for 30 challenge) I am really drawn to more neutral colors instead of brights & prints, like I have been in the past.

It feels easier to pair black with black, or taupe, or green, and not worry about matching, but just know that everything will look OK when I pair them together. That said, I just don't think I can give up my love of brights and prints and sequins and twirly skirts and volume and layers and things that me warm & fuzzy (all of the above).

30 for 30: Day 14

Day 14

Sadly, my Mr. had to work this evening, so I was only able to get some fuzzy mirror pics - sorry, friends. Bums me out when he has to work late! However, I did get some MAJOR blogging done, so it worked out ok, I think ;)

Hope your week is off to a great start!

So Sweet

I call these my "ballerina shoes," simply because they're pink, have a bow, and a slightly boxy toe-shoe shape. However, I do not have to tear them apart, lace them up, and they do not make my toes hurt and bleed.

I made these bracelets a few months ago. By made them, I mean I bought the beads and the stretchy string, then strung them together, then threw them on my wrist.
Before Halloween I attended a Dessert Party hosted by the collegiate members of my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. This event is an annual fundraiser, and the proceeds go to benefit Breast Cancer Education & Awareness, Zeta's national philanthropy.

I sported my event t-shirt from 2009, when I was one of the girls hosting the party, but subtly covered up with a cardigan and a scarf, but still showing my Think Pink! support :)

sweater: thrifted (Kohl's)
