30 for 30: Day 17 & Day 18

Day 17

Day 18

I always get a lot of compliments when I wear a hat. The truth is, I wear them when I'm having a baaaaad hair day. But maybe I should wear them on purpose more often?

Not my two best looks, but you know how I feel about my "gimme outfits" ;)

30 for 30: Days 4 & 5

You must think I'm such a slacker, being so far behind on my posting. I am and I'm not. Part of it was the internet and the lack of working internet - promise!

We had a softball game the day I wore this. My Mr. was running late so this is what I've got for ya. And, WE WON OUR GAME! 22-8. This is our first victory of the season, so it was very sweet. It's not that we're not a good team, but other teams are better...actually, we'll be down a few runs and then rally in the last inning or so, always losing by 1 run, which is frustrating. The old fastpitch player in me wants to have a pre-game pep talk: "You know how we play in the last inning when we're down? Yeah? Everybody? Play like that the WHOLE game!" But then I remember, it's just a game. And a summer rec league. And I'm not perfect - I have just as many errors as I did when I played in high school. Oy.

And this one. I realize it's not ON me, but trust me - I did wear it! I got a haircut after work, then had a long overdue phone date with one of my best friends, while my Mr. was out for the evening. And before I realized it, I was in my pajamas and ready for bed. So, I grabbed the things I'd worn earlier to at least give you an idea: black blazer, gray tee, jeans, sneaks & a scarf.

I can't figure out how to paste their linkup button - or any button, for that matter! Aaaaargh!

Twirling

I'm convinced that skirts & dresses were made for twirling

I wore this outfit to start off our Memorial Day Weekend. We laid low, saw some friends, lounged, and caught up on some sleep (and laundry, too). It was just what I needed - starting this coming weekend our summer is pretty full with weddings, parties, trips, and all the other elements of a fun summer.

I found this skirt at Goodwill. I'm sure it wasn't intended to be a maxi skirt, but when you're short like me, you can pull this off. For example, my mom was hesitant to order my first dress from Lilly Pulitzer a few birthdays back, because the dresses looked to short to her online. But then I reminded her that the models were all probably much taller than 5'8", and I'm only 5'4", so really, what hit them above the knee would probably be below my knees - maybe even to my ankles. Ankles was a bit of an exaggeration, but the length was perfect for my short legs!

On another note, I need to remember to not pair these sandals with this skirt - the hem of the skirt kept catching on my sandals every time I took a step. Grrr.

Sunny Sunday

I got to wear a skirt and a tank top today - the temperature got up in to the 80s! Whaaat? Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful as well, but don't worry, Wednesday is calling for snow

...BUT...

there's nothing I can do about it, so I'll just roll with it ;)

It was windy when we took these pictures, so it was hard to get a flattering shot,
especially from the front. Does that happen to anyone else?

Just me?

Happy Sunday - have a great week!

Chambray & a Maxi Skirt

I picked out this outfit before I went to bed. I get MUCH better results when I do that instead of standing in front of my closet in the morning, 2 minutes before I need to leave for work,
saying "Ummm...I have nothing to wear..."

Tights: WalMart
Shoes: Kohl's
Scarf: gift from Mama via Coldwater Creek (her favorite store)

Spring Stripes

No matter how cliche it sounds, or how many times you hear it, it IS tough to dress for this time of year! It's freezing in the morning, but today it hit 72 degrees this afternoon. It's warm outside, but my office is FREEZING! What's a girl to do?! Wear long sleeves, a long light skirt, all with sandals. I know, juxtaposing seasons together, but it worked! For today, anyway :)

I did get asked why I was so dressed up today...my response: a shrug and "Just wanted to look nice for spring!" My office is pretty casual, so anything beyond jeans and a blouse/nice top is "dressed up," which I know is absurd to some. My parents both can't believe that I'll wear jeans, and *GASP* the occasional t-shirt to work. I work in higher ed, and across campus the dress code is pretty casual. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it - I love being able to wear jeans, or tennis shoes (tenniepumps, as my sis-in-law says), but I do wish the that occasional skirt or slacks wouldn't get questioned so much.

What's the dress code where you work or go to school?
