white & gray

Gray and white (with blue stripes) for work and a sushi dinner after.

Gosh, it was hot wearing pants. I won't say I'm excited for fall or winter (ever), but I am having a hard time keeping cool...

me and tim

After my Dad and I ran the 10k Saturday morning, D and I headed up to Cheyenne, Wyoming to see Tim McGraw perform at Cheyenne Frontier Days. We lucked out with tickets - one of D's friends had purchased them, but wasn't able to make the concert. So, he sent them to us. And I got to see Tim.
*swoon*
The opening acts were Cassadee Pope and Kip Moore - both put on a really good show. And before Tim performed, the organizers of the rodeo announced the headlining acts for next year's show: Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban. You better believe I'm gonna try to get my hands on some Miranda tickets.

from Instagram. D is not a huge country music fan, but he's coming around. We saw Kacey Musgraves, the Eli Young Band, Eric Church and Kenny Chesney last summer and he even admitted it was a good show.

I had planned to wear a skirt, but the weather was calling for rain (and when it rains in Colorado and/or Wyoming, it's cold). Turns out, it was hot and humid. Blegh. Regardless, I got to see Tim and sway along to "Red Ragtop", "Just to See You Smile" and some new songs, like "Back at Mama's," and "Overrated."

twinsies

Several weeks ago, my parents came to visit for the weekend. My Dad and I ran a 10k race Saturday morning. We coordinated our outfits (obvi) and ran the race together. Even enjoyed a beer together afterwards. Every time we run a race, my Dad says "Wasn't that fun?"
And I always respond with "Fun isn't the word I would use..."

I do enjoy running, but during the race, I can only think "Uggh, when are we DONE???"
Afterwards, I'm so glad I did it. But during is a whole different story.

after the race (from Instagram) - enjoying post-race beers

Here's what I wore to run the 10k. My Dad has the same shorts and we both wore orange tank tops. And he wore his orange shoes, instead of green ones.
#twinsies
We got stopped a few times and asked where we got our shorts - I got mine from Soark. They've got several other flags, and running tights/leggings, in addition to shorts.

I just ordered new running shoes and they're white, so, bye bright orange Mizunos
*sniff sniff*
(I just got the Mizuno Wave Inspire 10s. The orange ones above are the Mizuno Wave Inspire 9s. I have yet to break in the new ones - stay tuned...)

this is me telling my Dad to stop trying to get fancy with the picture taking...

take two

Both of my parents read this here blog. And sometimes my Mama will email me about my outfit choices. Found out this past week that she only emails me about the ones she likes...so IF I don't get an email, that means she didn't like it. She thought the last time I wore this dress (here) was rather bland, so here I paired it with a brown necklace (!!!) and snakeprint shoes. How'd I do, Mama? ;)

backwards

So, I wore this dress backwards. The last time I wore it on the blog was here, and you can see the neckline is NOT a deep v-neck. But I really wanted to wear this dress for work, and I didn't think an open back would go over well. So I flipped it around and wore a light blue tank underneath. Can't wait to wear it again (without tights!) while it's still warm enough.

And apparently, my Mama's best friend's Mom (tracking?) wore her dress backwards at my Mama's best friend's wedding and she looked great. Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks things can be wore backwards. Or inside out. Or upside down.

big day

Remember a few weeks ago when I told you it's cool to still be patriotic after the 4th of July? Well, it's true. And here's more proof. Call me crazy, but I'm excited to style this scarf into fall and winter.

In other news, today is a BIG DAY. One of my best friends is moving! And not just moving anywhere - moving to where I live! Not the same house, or neighborhood, but a lot closer than we've lived since...high school? She moved some things into her new apartment the week before last, and we spent all afternoon & evening talking. I didn't make it home til after midnight...So, this time, I'm wondering if I should pack my pajamas and a sleeping bag, just like we used to do in middle school.

I've been waiting all spring and summer for her to get here and now that it's finally (almost) here, I can hardly contain my excitement. We always keep in touch, but there's nothing quite like being in the same place with your best friend. My two other best friends live on the East Coast, and the other in Hawaii, and then of course my sweet sis-in-law is out east, too, so phone calls & texts are our main way of keeping in touch. But nothing beats staying up late and catching up with a friend in her new apartment, am i right??

brights. done right.

These colors are something I would have NEVER thought to pair together. I can't quite remember how they both ended up on my body on the same day - maybe it was dark in my closet? Maybe I felt like wearing bright colors all at once? Maybe I remember coloring with purple and green crayons all throughout elementary school? But I do know that later in the day, or possibly the next day, I saw someone on Instagram wearing a purpley shirt with minty-green pants, so I thought "Hey, it ain't so bad! I might be on to something here..."

So, as newly minted expert on wearing brights together, don't feel like you have to wear neutrals on top with bright pants - you can wear brights, prints, stripes, pineapples, lace, a bikini top, a neon construction vest - whatever you want. And when someone tells you it looks great, just smile and say "Oh thank you!"

Oh oh, and the Broncos have another pre-season game today! I got a new Broncos t-shirt last week that I'm dying to wear. Not that I'm a die-hard football fan, but it is neat when your team makes it to the Super Bowl. It is NOT neat when they lose...
