Mr. Picks Mondays: Butterflies

My Mr. picked this flowy butterfly print top, and I added the cardigan for a bit more coverage at work. Then we had a delicious dinner and frolicked with the pups.

I had a great weekend - I saw a dear friend of mine who is in the Peace Corps and has been on the other side of the world for the past year 16 months-ish; visited with a friend who just moved back to Colorado (hadn't seen her since our wedding); made it to a housewarming party, and spent some down time snuggling with my sweetheart and pups. Oh, and I ate well - of course!

Have a great week, my friends!

Fancy Schmancy Legging Pants

see the stripe?? see how fabulous they are??

These fancy schmancy leggings made an appearance on date night. We went to Olive Garden for some delicious soup, salad, and breadsticks, and then home to finish watching our latest obsession on Netflix, "Orange is the New Black." Have you seen it? It's an original series, based on the memoir of the same name, fictionalized & sensalized, of course. We love it. Watch it. And report back. Please :)

Do you see why I love these pants? Regular leggings with an edge, and I need all the edge I can get. They'll be great with a sweater and some boots this fall & winter - they're nice and thick and warm! We've had some cooler weather this past week, so I've been able to wear more transitional pieces without overheating.

Happy Monday tomorrow!

Poppy Skirt

I got this skirt with my sister-in-law on our family vacation to Wisconsin in June. I had originally tried on another floral mirror print skirt that I really liked, but it was a bit more than I wanted to pay. And then, there, on the sale rack, was this cute little poppy print number. In my size!

The poppies themselves are more orange-ish than red in real life, so I had a hard time deciding what to wear on top. However, black is in the stamens, and I have a decent amount of black tops, so that was easy. I would like to punch it up a bit in the future, so any suggestions are appreciated!

Triple Print Mixing Triple Threat

sorority girl pose - as natural as breathin'

I did a side braid, and then braided that into a bigger french braid

I mixed THREE whole prints in this number! THREE! Granted, 2 of them are polka dots, but they're different sizes, so I say it counts :) My shirt has some white stripes, hard to see, I know, but trust me, they're there. I even got complimented on this outfit by a total stranger, in the bathroom, at the public library. Odd, yes? Flattering? You betcha ;)

This blazer is from Aeropostale. I knew it would be a great addition to my closet as soon as I saw it, since it can go over the top of just about anything (and it's really soft). I'm looking forward to wearing it as a light jacket, or as a blazer.

Now, you'll never hear me say I love cold weather. I am a sun&sand&heat&summer-lover, through and through. That being said, I AM excited to wear this jacket, and some other new things I've acquired, in the cooler months. There's not much like wearing new clothes for the first few times, am I right? And also, being that I live somewhere where it can snow in October just as easily as January or May, or even June, I'm very comfortable layering and thinking of clothes in terms of what I can wear them under or over. So, I am a wee bit excited to layer and wear scarves and add more depth to my outfits without sweating in the heat ;)

My Chartreuse Summer Sweater

I wore this outfit to take two cute pups to the vet for a checkup, and then on to work. I got this chartreuse-ish sweater several weeks ago at Old Navy and have been itching to wear it. It's very light, and the sleeves roll up and stay put with a nice little button deal-thingey - perfect for the summer heat when you work in a really chilly office. I added plain shorts and some wedges, since the color of the sweater is so bright, and, TA DA!!! Summer sweater chic ;)

Hawaiian Style

THESE are some of my other new pants! check out those zippers!

I wore this to my new job's department picnic the other day. The theme was Hawaiian, and unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don't have any loud Hawaiian print shirts in my closet. My Mr. doesn't either. But if he did, it would swim on me, and I could wear it as a dress, er, muu muu ;)

So, I chose a tank with a parrot and "Hawaii" on it . And a flower in my hair. My own interpretation of Hawaiian. How did I do, Abby? (she's one of my besties who lives in Paradise)

*sigh*

We're trying to get me on a 1-way flight out there...

I Got New Pants

like my spectacles?

You guysssss, these are my new pants from Aéropostale. And I must say, I like 'em. I like 'em a lot. They're a jegging fit, which I know turns some people off, but I like it because they stay where they're supposed to, if ya know what I mean. And I can use a little spandex lately, too much delicious food has made its way into my belly lately...

Anyway, you like? Think you'll go get you some? You definitely should...!

This is the blazer from Aéro - it was too warm to wear it today. But maybe tomorrow? We're supposed to be getting some rain and colder weather the rest of this week. And you know I love summer, but when you've got new fall clothes to wear, you want it to be a bit cooler for just a few days ;)
