the jury is out

The verdict is still out on this shirt - I've had it for over a year, because sometimes I really like the fit, and sometimes I think it's WAAAAY too clingy. However, it does fill a nice little black-and-white-striped-short-sleeve-shirt hole in my closet...

And also, isn't that brown and white bully up there so dang cute?

bragging rights

I don't mean to brag, but I think my legs look pretty good in this skirt and these wedges. I've been training for my half marathon and I like to think it shows. But maybe that's all in my head...

This skirt is shorter than what I'd wear to work, so don't worry, Mom - this skirt didn't go to work. I wore pants on the job site, but changed into this when I got home. Something about pants in the summer heat makes me so uncomfortable. Blegh.

When You Don't Know What to Wear

When you don't know what to wear, try a pastel striped v-neck with a high-waisted chambray skirt. Throw on some metallic sandals for good measure. Consider soft curls in your hair. Have fun twirling and frolicking in your fun and flirty skirt (see above).

Happy Sunday!

Creativity as a Muscle

The pieces for this outfit just came together, and I have to say, I really love the result. The more I wear this skirt, the more ideas I can come up with for it - creativity at its finest. Don't they say creativity is a muscle? And the more you use it, the better it gets? Truer words have never been spoken, my friends.

I picked up these shades before I went to Florida for the 4th of July. Festive, no? Needless to say, I love America - if you didn't already know...

Flapper Girl

I wore this on a really great hair day. I washed my hair, blow dried it, and poof! All the blonde hairs on my head fell into place. This doesn't happen all too often...hardly ever, really...

So, I took this good hair day, combined it with a good outfit day, and took myself to get a beer after work with the Mr. and a few friends. Then headed home to love on the pups and watch the handsome one roll around in the grass.

Oh, and here's another lace/crochet skirt. It almost looks like a flapper's dress up close (almost), which is quite fitting ately - I've been listening to Flapper Girl by The Lumineers on repeat.

Nice to listen to, ain't it? ;)

Dressing for America's Birthday, Part II

Since this Friday is the 4th of July / America’s Birthday / Independence Day / one of the best days of the year, here is my second patriotic / festive outfit idea that I’m sharing: a tank top with stars all over it, and a simple chambray skirt that allows for lots of frolicking and cruiser-riding, which are two things I’m very into.

So, as you think about what to wear when you celebrate the 4th of July, be sure to wear something you can frolick and be ultra-American in. I suggest it be red, white, AND blue, and covered with stars & stripes, but that’s just me - I like to obnoxiously celebrate America (proof: here and here).

New Favorite Skirt

This skirt is a new addition to my closet, directly from AĆ©ropostale. When I found it in the store, I easily fell in love. And there was only one of my size left.
#meanttobe

The only thing I'd change about it would be that I could have also snagged it in cream (it was sold out online and in store - boo). Oh, and maybe a few more inches to the bottom, so I could wear my new favorite skirt to work :)

Dots & Poppies

I came up with the idea for this ensemble ages ago. Then had to wait WEEKS for the weather to cooperate (it's currently cooler than 50 degrees right now. and dark. and rainy. which is FINE. however, I was hoping to spend all day today and tomorrow laying in the sun at a friend's pool. so, there's that).
And then, I waited WEEKS to post it here.
I know, I know!
Worst blogger EVER.

To be honest with you, I haven't felt inspired/motivated lately. To blog, to play in my closet, to write anything, to impress you with my witty self. Part of it is I've been a wee bit busy - training for another half, booking flights to the Sunshine State, patio drinking, drinking Snapshots at New Belgium Brewery, and taking video of my handsome Turb rolling in the grass.

But part of it is I feel like I'm out of sorts, and this poor little blog gets neglected as a side effect.
Bear with me, if you will - that'd be great!

with my denim jacket. and my sweeties, of course

New Schtuff from AĆ©ropostale

Oh heyyyyy, there! I'm back with more goodies from AĆ©ropostale - I'm loving the new stuff I got!

left to right:

This dress will be so fun for this summer. It's got a scooped back, and a really full skater skirt to swish around in.

similar to the shirt above
I couldn't find the exact one on Aero's website :/ but really excited to wear this lightweight button up this summer.

This will complement the rest of my lace skirt collection quite nicely.
I've got pink and orange, and now black!

left to right:

You know how I feel about neon when it comes to my workout gear. I'm training for another half, so this should help.

similar in link
I can't find this exact reversible bandeau, but it's black on one side and white on the other. Perfect for when you need some sort of coverage, but a regular bra just won't do.

I got this nail polish, because, well, I like nail polish.
And I don't have this color.

I can't find these exact bracelets, but here's a link to the rest of the bracelets on Aero's website: bracelets. I played with the idea of buying a studded bracelet ages ago, and the fox is just too. perfect. One of my best friend's last names is Fox, so, really, how could I not bring this cute little guy home with me??

I'll be sure to post pictures of me in my clothes soon - stay tuned!

Mr. Picks Mondays: Dressed for Spring (oh, and Ireland)

I last wore this orange skirt over the summer (oh, summer! how I can't wait for your arrival!) for a Bachelorette Party in Las Vegas (here). It's been hanging in my closet screaming (literally screaming, because it's so bright) "WEAR ME! I'M FUN! WEAR ME! I can go with tights and boots or wedges or sandals!"

I've come close a few times but haven't been able to pull the trigger and actually do it.

Enter my Mr. and Monday.

He chose this bright, lacy, funky skirt and pronounced "This."

So. Boom. I had to wear it! And wear it I did! I tried to tone down the neon-ness of the skirt by keeping the rest of the ensemble pretty neutral and covered up. It's a spring outfit if I ever saw one - bright skirt, jacket, scarf, tights & booties. But, when it's ALMOST spring in Colorado, you can only roll with it and mix & match your sweaters with shorts and sandals snow boots the best you can.

Oh, and, I'm not even Irish (the Mr. is, though), and look at me - wearing orange & green like the Irish flag! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
