New Schtuff from Aéropostale

Oh heyyyyy, there! I'm back with more goodies from Aéropostale - I'm loving the new stuff I got!

left to right:

This dress will be so fun for this summer. It's got a scooped back, and a really full skater skirt to swish around in.

I couldn't find the exact one on Aero's website :/ but really excited to wear this lightweight button up this summer.

This will complement the rest of my lace skirt collection quite nicely.
I've got pink and orange, and now black!

You know how I feel about neon when it comes to my workout gear. I'm training for another half, so this should help.

I can't find this exact reversible bandeau, but it's black on one side and white on the other. Perfect for when you need some sort of coverage, but a regular bra just won't do.

I got this nail polish, because, well, I like nail polish.
And I don't have this color.

I can't find these exact bracelets, but here's a link to the rest of the bracelets on Aero's website: bracelets. I played with the idea of buying a studded bracelet ages ago, and the fox is just too. perfect. One of my best friend's last names is Fox, so, really, how could I not bring this cute little guy home with me??

I'll be sure to post pictures of me in my clothes soon - stay tuned!

Mr. Picks Mondays: Spring in my Step

It was frigid cold outside, so we moved inside to take my picture without the blazer.

The Mr. chose the gray lace top and black pants - I chose to "spring" it up with pink and florals. I really like the balance of black and gray, with different pinks and a light spring-ey scarf.

Every spring, I always think of Meryl Streep's line from The Devil Wears Prada: "Florals. For spring. Groundbreaking." I mean, florals for spring are nothing new, but I do love slowly breaking them out again and again every year - just makes it feel more and more like spring (even though we're getting snow tonight and tomorrow. Oy.)

Florals Made Cold Weather Appropriate by...(you guessed it!) Navy!!!

This sweater is something I found at Old Navy a few weeks ago, when I found a lot of other things I didn't "need" didn't know my closet was missing! Two of them being this navy blue sweater & peacoat. And a navy blue down vest.

I feel like you're judging me for buying so much navy.

*crickets*

Haven't you heard navy is the new black??

Affirming my love of the dark hue of blue is my sweet godmother. She texted me a few days after this post and told me that we must be related, since she's always loved navy! She's got great style and we love to talk fashion and shopping, especially our fave, Lilly Pulitzer. She's also who I have to thank for introducing me to the magical land that is Nordstrom.

*sighs & dreams*

So, thanks for always talking clothes with me, Auntie!

the newest addition to my modest coat collection - it's love

On a different note, I REALLY liked this outfit. I really want to repeat it, or recreate something similar with some of these pieces (and soon!), and then wear the heck out of this skirt in the spring and summer. I mean, are florals better suited for any other season(s)?
Except for when you pair them with a warm sweater in a darker shade, tights and boots, that is ;)

On the Patio

pretending to be tall

Nothing too fancy today, but sometimes simple is truly the way to go. That's why I love dresses - they don't require too much thought. I did choose my neon sandals because (1) I love them, (2) they're comfortable, and (3) I thought I'd spice up my simple dress with some color.

Also, this is our little patio off our apartment - the pups love to lay out here in the sun and work on their tans. Or nap. They do a lot of napping...

they're my faves - always starved for attention

Poppy Skirt

I got this skirt with my sister-in-law on our family vacation to Wisconsin in June. I had originally tried on another floral mirror print skirt that I really liked, but it was a bit more than I wanted to pay. And then, there, on the sale rack, was this cute little poppy print number. In my size!

The poppies themselves are more orange-ish than red in real life, so I had a hard time deciding what to wear on top. However, black is in the stamens, and I have a decent amount of black tops, so that was easy. I would like to punch it up a bit in the future, so any suggestions are appreciated!

Workin' Girl

This is what I wore on my last day at my old job this past Friday. I'm still at the same University, but now in a different department. I left on great terms and it was really tough to leave! I've really enjoyed the people I worked with there, but am looking forward to new responsibilities & challenges in my new position.

Shirt: WalMart
Skirt: Urban Outfitters via clothing swap
Sandals: Maurice's

This is what I wore to my first day at my new job yesterday. I scored this dress at Kohl's over the weekend with some Kohl's cash and a coupon. I'm trying to find dresses that provide more coverage so I can wear them to work - easier said than done, my friends.

Things went well my first day, but you know how you can't really jump into a new job the first day? There's lots of paperwork and processes and orientations and trainings to go through? I'm ready to be done with those and into my new support role! Of course, I know I won't learn it all in a day, but I'm ready to get rolling with the learning and the doing :)

This super cute clutch is from Aéro - they sent it to me before their Aéro Rocks Fashion event last week. It's the perfect size for when I don't want to carry TOO much, but need more than what can fit in my little carry-all wallet.

Unrelated to switching jobs and outfits, I'm going to discontinue my "monthly outfit recaps." They're a lot of work to summarize what I posted just days ago, and they feel redundant to me. Please let me know if you think otherwise. Are there any topics you'd like to see more of? Running, budgeting, living within our means, my supersweetsupercute dogs?

Florals

This is from May, before my 30 for 30 Challenge. But I still wanted to share it with y'all.

Maybe this is all in my head, but I think skinnies look odd on my lately. Don't get me wrong, I love 'em. Love 'em love 'em love 'em, But in the past few months, I can't help but feel they're less than flattering on my legs - they're tight in the wrong places, and baggy in other wrong ones. Aaaaand, I'm short. Like 5'4'' short. Maybe that's it. Definitely not my love of sweets or carbs. Definitely not...

We've got a busy weekend ahead, so I'll apologize in advance if there's radio silence over here ;)

and I'm linking up over here today :)

30 for 30: Day 23 & Day 24

Day 23

So, the first night of our trip, most of my extended family was at dinner. Then my sweet Dad announced to everyone that I have a blog. I turned bright red and mumbled a description to the whole table about how it's "about my clothes, and what I wear..." Shortly after, we headed outside to take my outfit pictures. My brother & uncles knocked on the windows since they could see us, and this is me waving back. Cue red face.

hamming it up for my photographer for the week: my Dad. we're  besties. true story.

So, my Dad spilled the beans on my blog. Not that it was a big secret, but it's awkward to just tell people you know and love "So, I write things on the internet and post pictures of myself." So I guess I'm glad my Dad just blurted it out to everyone - I gained AT LEAST 3 new readers. Hi family!!!

Day 24

that is a fish. jumping. RIGHT BEHIND ME.

our view for the week. I love my mountains but this is nice, too :)

me & Dad

I taught him how to pose like a sorority girl: skinny arm & head tilt. However, he didn't get the memo to hold his drink out of the picture...next time?

this is me wearing my brother's size 14 flip flops. I get a kick out of it...

A few more tidbits about my family reunion trip are headed your way, and of course, the rest of the my 30 for 30 challenge. I'm not too original with what's left, but packing everything in a carry-on really limited my options. #firstworldproblems
