formulas and recipes

Here's an outfit I'd wear again, not pregnant. I'd change a few things, though - no maternity top or jeans. Instead, I'd choose my regular skinnies + a favorite gray v-neck. Pair it with the same jacket, scarf and accessories, and this is one of those easy outfit formulas that can be repeated while gestating or not.

What's your go-to outfit "formula" or "recipe" lately?

on repeat

You've seen this dress before - several times recently (here and here). I just dig it, you guys. A stretchy, comfortable, and flattering dress that's affordable and is basic enough to go with almost everything, yet has a fun print that keeps it from looking drab and dull. What's not to love?

If it's not TOO stretched out, it is definitely going to become a part of my regular rotation. And if it is too stretched out to pass as a regular clothing item, then it will get stored with the rest of my maternity clothes once the baby arrives for the next time.

Labor Day

Hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend - ours was quite the adventure. There was lots of food, beer, bikes, cars, friends, and dogs. It was really fun, but I'm wiped, and feeling like I "labored" pretty hard in all my play.

So, instead of laying low today, tomorrow, or this week, I'm headed into another very busy week, with another busy weekend following it - and to start off this next round of madness, a pretty simple look: a striped dress under a light jacket + fun wedges before they get packed away until next spring.
Oh, and layered necklaces to add some dimension to an otherwise simple look.

busy busy in my booties

Ever have one of those crazy days
weeks
months
extended periods of time?

While my personal life has had some down time this week (only until Friday, then company! BBQ! festival! pool!), my work life has been crazy busy. While I do love when the days go by quickly, I can't stand when I'm unable to really accomplish anything. That "I've been busy all day, but have nothing actually completed to show for it" feeling. Enter frustrated Annie.

But cute outfits help to easy my frustration. So, even if I'm swamped and slowly wading my way through work stuff, at least I'm wearing some cute booties to do it. Perhaps these should be called my "ass-kicking booties"?

Happy Wednesday evening ;)

all of the layers

If you've ever wanted to wear ALL OF THE LAYERS, you would look something similar to the above pictures. A striped tee, zip up sweatshirt, utility jacket, and a scarf up top, skinnies and flats on the bottom.

Not my best look, but certainly not my worst. I like to think the multitude of layers keeps you guessing:
"Does she look good? Does she look like a green, gray & black marshmallow? Why is she wearing so many layers? Maybe they layers are to distract me? Maybe the layers hide her true, funny, clever self? I think maybe the layers all look cohesive - wow, she must really have her life in order."

Or, ya know, whatever other thoughts popped into your head when this outfit filled with prints, dark colors, and neutrals appeared on your computer screen/phone screen/email inbox. Who knew a neutral & layered outfit could spark SO much discussion?
