Rocksbox number three

Kendra Scott Tessa Stud Earrings in Chalcedony
Gorjana Vista Cuff in Gold
Perry Street Flora Crystal Necklace

This is third set of goodies I received from Rocksbox to borrow. I hung onto it for quite a while, because I LOVED this necklace. I have a similar statement necklace, but it’s rather cheap. And compared to this beauty, it pales. It looks cheap. And tacky.

But this. THIS necklace is my jewelry spirit animal. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received when I wore it – from coworkers, from girlfriends, from a lady at a wine bar. It looks great dressed up (see it with pleats and polka dots here), and just as great with a plain tee. It adds a bit of glam to an otherwise casual look, and also serves to elevate and even out a fancier (more fancy? fancy-er?) look. I liked the necklace and earrings, however, the necklace was by far my favorite – I’m still debating making it mine…

This bodycon-ish, midi length dress is a new thing for me. I tend to lean more towards A-line or shift dresses (my wedding dress was four feet wide. true story), so this curve-hugging style is…new

However, I think it packs a lot of punch. So, when wanting to stand out and make an impression, wear a bodycon(ish) dress.

As for the length, I tend to shy away from this length, as it usually makes me and my legs look much shorter and thicker than we (collectively) really are. However, I think it works with this dress – perhaps because the snugness of the dress is a bit lengthening? And nude wedges are always a win.

plain & fancy

Whenever I wear this jacket, I try to pair it with something very feminine. I do this simply so I can find the perfect balance between a utilitarian/"rugged" (but nor really) look and a more softer, more girly one. And this outfit does just that - lacy tee, fancy shorts, fancy jewels & an olive green field/utility jacket.

Ta da!

Oh oh, and, you guys, it's Fridayyy. Cheers to the weekend!

long time, no see

Hello, friends! I know - world's longest absence from my little blog. I can make all the excuses in the world and delve into where I've been and what I've been doing and why I've been neglecting you, but, I won't.

Instead, I'll just say "I'm sorry. I've been putting other things ahead of my outfit posts. The end."

We good?

Moving right along, I wore this pleated & polka dotted salmon number for a Zeta Alumni event several weeks ago. This is such a juxtaposition of looks, and I LOVE it (look at me growing up! wearing different styles all at once like a boss!).

The sweet pleats & polka dots, the salmon color and the feminine cut.
Paired with the taupe ankle booties and the sparkly statement necklace.
Topped off with my dark hairs (love. still.) and a suede clutch.

I know this look isn't for everyone, but I'm a big fan - I blended several different seasons and looks/feels/vibes into one, rather cohesive, look.
Ya like?

not a bruise

the moody teenager

Although this outfit is comprised of the colors that make up a bruise (black, purple, and mint counts as blue, right?), I did not intend to actually dress AS a bruise. So, sorry to disappoint if you thought that's where this was headed.

I can't say enough how much I love this black chambray, and these black pants, and, oh, those python print flats. What will I ever do when they've had their last wear and must retire? T'will be a sad day, indeed.

Anyways, I like this outfit. I like all the black, all the purple, all the stripes, the good hair day (few and far between, lately - chronic oversleeping syndrome, ya know), and the handsome (although moody & easily annoyed) bully pictured above.

I know this seems a bit dark for June and almost-but-not-quite-summer, but, the high today was only in the 60s-ish, and it was rainy and gloomy, so totally appropriate.
Me says yes.

neon shoes

Let's discuss ALL OF THE COLORS going on here:
mint. good.
teal print scarf. good.
gray. good.
olive. good
neon. good.

I added the neon shoes for a bit of pop to an otherwise gray and rainy day (we've had a lot of those in Colorado lately). I think the blues/grays up top are a nice counterbalance to the olive and neon going on down below.

Thoughts?
Ever pair wildly different color families together?
Or wear neon shoes to brighten things up?
