Mr. Picks Mondays: a [pink] variation

When my Mr. originally picked out my outfit yesterday, I thought I'd wear this dusty pink blazer with it. It's a nice look, but a bit too dressy for my work - a more casual take on a suit.

So even though I didn't wear it, I thought I'd share it here.

I wanted both of the pooches for a picture, but Handsome likes to burrow under our bed, with all the luggage...

So Pretty Girl and I took a picture...

And he sensed that she was getting more attention than him...

So he made an appearance, and consented to be in the picture, as long as I promised to give him lots of lovin'...which of course, I did :)

Mr. Picks Mondays: Blue & Brown

Sorry for the indoor pictures - it was not pretty outside. We're under a blizzard
warning, or something like that. And it was SO nice this weekend...

Today, he picked out the top & bottoms - I got to add the sweater. Which didn't seem necessary at lunchtime, but by 3 o'clock today, wasn't warm enough!

I'm a newbie poser - I'm working on it, promise!

The verdict is still out on these pants. I've had them FOREVER, and I hemmed them so I could wear them with flats, or shorter heels. But they're such a wide leg, on such a short person - what do you think? Keep them or toss them?

Pants: Kohl's

I know it's not Thursday, but here's a throwback for you, anyways :D

*why am I cheesing so big? If I remember correctly, this was around 6 am*

Here's me in this same sweater, my first day of my senior year of high school...proving that I hang onto clothes for a long time. Too long? But I love the color, so I just can't part with it!

Sweater: Eddie Bauer
Shorts: Old Navy (still have those, too!)
Sandals: Payless (those are gone, proving I CAN get rid of things. Sometimes...)

Spring Stripes

No matter how cliche it sounds, or how many times you hear it, it IS tough to dress for this time of year! It's freezing in the morning, but today it hit 72 degrees this afternoon. It's warm outside, but my office is FREEZING! What's a girl to do?! Wear long sleeves, a long light skirt, all with sandals. I know, juxtaposing seasons together, but it worked! For today, anyway :)

I did get asked why I was so dressed up today...my response: a shrug and "Just wanted to look nice for spring!" My office is pretty casual, so anything beyond jeans and a blouse/nice top is "dressed up," which I know is absurd to some. My parents both can't believe that I'll wear jeans, and *GASP* the occasional t-shirt to work. I work in higher ed, and across campus the dress code is pretty casual. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it - I love being able to wear jeans, or tennis shoes (tenniepumps, as my sis-in-law says), but I do wish the that occasional skirt or slacks wouldn't get questioned so much.

What's the dress code where you work or go to school?

Top: Old Navy
Skirt: thrifted from my favorite thrift store that has since closed its doors. Boo.

Purple & Pups

Purple 2 days in a row – supporting the Rockies, you know ;)
We can only hope there's another Rocktober in our future!

I do LOVE baseball, but I don’t really follow professional ball. I’ll watch the Rockies if they happen to be on TV, and I love going to games, but overall, I’m a very fair weather fan. Must be all my brother’s games I sat through - I can’t tell you how many baseball games I’ve watched between him playing baseball, and me playing softball (thousands! millions?). And there were the multiple summers he played legion ball, and they had double headers.
Every.
Single.
Day.

Handsome making an appearance. But not showing off his good side.

I LOVE these sparkly flats. LOVE LOVE LOVE em.

And here's Pretty Girl & me - sniffing anything & everything.

I wore the scarf at work today (my office is freezing!), and the more layers I can wear, the better.

If you're wondering, they walk very slowly. They don't run - they "sprint" for 10 yards, then they're done. Not good running buddies, which is a bummer.
Not that I'm fast, but I'm much faster than them...

Apologies for the many fuzzy, unedited photos - my Mr. and I both lack photography skills. We're using a pink SONY Cybershot from 2007. Not kidding.

Purple Plaid & Rain

This was a really cold & rainy day. April showers bring May flowers, right?? Riiiiiight.

Even with tights, a sweater, and scarf, I needed another layer, so I threw a shirt under my dress for an extra layer. I'm so ready for warmer weather!

I got the dress in a clothes swap with one of my best friends, which was so fun!
Have you ever swapped clothes with a friend?

Mr. Picks Mondays: Gypsy Soul

He did it again - picked out my clothes. He's managed (so far) to pick things I don't wear too often. No particular reason why I don't wear them that often, I just have A LOT of clothes, so things don't get repeated too close together. If you don't believe me, I've had TWO (yes, TWO different) closet rods collapse under the weight of my garments. And I've broken 1 rolling rack. Whoops. The good news is, after each collapse, my Mr. fixed the rod and added extra reinforcements, so I can go back to weighing them down with clothes...

Cheesy grinning up there...and laughing at something below. Probably my Mr. explaining his strategy for Mr. Picks Mondays: pick a color, walk into my closet, and pick out something (anything!) in that color, usually the first thing he sees.

I have a love/hate relationship with these pants. They were inexpensive from Hollister (by inexpensive, I mean $7.99-inexpensive). They were a bit snug for a while, then I lost some weight and they fit, and then I got them shortened since they were a good 6+ inches too long. Now I feel like they're too short for anything except flats. And they fit a little funny - snug in the thighs, but loose in the hips. It's odd - a lot of pants fit me that way. And just when I've decided that's how all pants in the world fit me, I put on a pair that is snug in the hips, and baggy in the thighs. Whaaaaat?

Sorry for the drainage ditch behind me. If those big clouds were gone, you could see the beautiful mountains behind me and it would more than make up for the ditch. Next time! Maybe. Really, I have no control over the weather... The weather here is a wee bit crazy, especially this time of year.

Pre-Easter

We spent the day before Easter with my in-laws at their house, which is only 15 minutes from my parents' house. Another benefit of marrying your high school sweetheart: your parents probably live pretty close to each other. And close to your best friends.

That tongue!

The pups had the best day: lounging, getting love & attention, napping, getting more love & attention, chasing around cats, and exploring the outdoors. It's a rough life they live.

I ordered this necklace through a LivingSocial deal and it arrived just in time for Easter!

Mirror shot with a bad flash - sorry! My mother-in-law took some more pics with her camera, so I'll add those when she sends them to me. You'll see a lot more "skinny arm/chicken wing" poses from me, I'm sure - sorry in advance? Being in a sorority, those things never leave you ;)

LOVE this new top from JCPenney. I was in there last weekend with a friend and was very impressed. I hadn't been in one in a few years, and was blown away! The whole inside got a facelift, great selection of clothing, accessories, and home goods for great prices (I got this top for $4, and a polka dot sweater for $5!! Have I mentioned I love polka dots? Because I do). My transaction was completed on an iPhone with attachment - talk about fancy, JCP!

UPDATE:
Here are the pictures from my mother-in-law, featuring me & my pups going on a walk. They didn't know what to do about all the smells!
