game day: part 3

More game day outfits, geared towards those of us who live where it's more often than not freezing&snowing during a game, instead of nice&sunny. Watching my brother play high school football, there were 2, MAYBE 3, games at the beginning of the season we could get away with wearing only a light sweatshirt. By the end of the season, I was wearing snow pants and a ski jacket. And the reverse was true for baseball season in the spring - it ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS snowed on the day of the first game.

*sigh*

...memories ;)

First up, striped tee layered under a logo tee, under a cardigan, under a down vest.
Add and subtract layers as you feel appropriate.

No sweaters this time, but the down vest definitely makes a huge difference in the level of warmth. I have a Colorado flag headband I would have added if I wasn't having such a good hair day, but it's in the outfit below.

This layered look was really practical to head to a friend's house to watch the Broncos play. She and her husband whipped up a great nacho bar, and we sat inside and watched the game, while loving on her pups. And there's that Colorado flag headband I love so much. #statepride

This last look doesn't appear to have much Broncos pride at first glance. But hear me out. Orange striped tank, under a navy sweater, add or delete or change (ikat print vs. navy plaid vs. no scarf) scarves as you deem appropriate, and mint jeans + taupe booties. I would wear this ensemble if we were going to say, someone's boss's house to watch the game, or perhaps a more dressy shindig where a t-shirt just might not be enough. Comfortable, a step above a t-shirt and jeans, and nice enough for church or work.

30 for 30: day 27 & day 28

day 27

Just your typical “skinnies and a sweater” look. Throw on python print flats to make you look tough (since you're wearing a marshmallow-y cream cable-knit sweater) and then realize that this outfit is really similar to what you wore two days before…whoops?

day 28

Oh, ya know, a navy blue floral scarf over a navy blue sweater. Nothing terribly exciting, but it still turned out well. I’m finding that the best outfits don’t have to be complicated, or over the top, or incorporate at least 7 trends – sometimes they’re really easy, and comfortable, too.

Since it's Veteran's Day today, make sure to hug your favorite vet :)
Mine happen to be my Mom & Dad - thank you for serving, Colonels!

30 for 30: day 23 & day 24

day 23

I knew the Denver Broncos were playing this evening, so I donned my t-shirt and mixed some more black and brown with skinny jeans. I also needed to be comfortable, because I got to go into work early, run all over campus and town, then head straight to the airport for a very late flight. I made a (way too) short visit to my cousin and extended family and friends, and made it to my destination just in time to fall into bed an hour or two past my Colorado bedtime.

day 24

My cousin is a late sleeper, so I also got to sleep in (!!!), do some reading, have come coffee, and check out a new outlet mall. Some (more) of my favorite things, all in one day. Getting to sleep in and read were my most favorite though…

Later, more cousins and aunts and uncles appeared with pizza and beer and mixed drinks, and we caught up and got to have a nice evening in.

30 for 30: day 21 & day 22

day 21

When I put this together, this outfit seemed so creative to me, and here’s why, even though it may look like it only consists of buffalo plaid over a dress with python flats.

Within one outfit, I was able to incorporate the following:

- layers
- print-mixing (kinda)
- a statement necklace OVER a button-up shirt’s collar
- plaid for fall
- all within the confines of my 30 for 30 guidelines

Ta-da!

day 22

Nothing super-impressive on this day (as compared to Day 21), but not shabby - a white cable-knit sweater, striped pencil skirt, and booties.
Neutrals, stripes, taupe, white, and bare legs in a skirt with a warm sweater,
these are a few of my favorite things…

30 for 30: day 19 & day 20

day 19

Day 19 consisted of plans to run in the morning with my Dad falling through (his fault – he kept filling my wine glass the evening before when we had company), breakfast (mostly bacon), and then BBQ for lunch with good friends.

My photographer friend even took these outfit pictures for me, and that genuine laughing smile is courtesy of her husband making a joke.

day 20

Just some favorites – black skinnies and a chambray. IF I had a “uniform” of sorts, this would most likely be it: skinnies and a button-up shirt. Swap out boots, flats, or sandals for the appropriate season, and same with a scarf. Not sure if I’m ready to adopt something so official like that yet, though…
