backwards

So, I wore this dress backwards. The last time I wore it on the blog was here, and you can see the neckline is NOT a deep v-neck. But I really wanted to wear this dress for work, and I didn't think an open back would go over well. So I flipped it around and wore a light blue tank underneath. Can't wait to wear it again (without tights!) while it's still warm enough.

And apparently, my Mama's best friend's Mom (tracking?) wore her dress backwards at my Mama's best friend's wedding and she looked great. Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks things can be wore backwards. Or inside out. Or upside down.

harry potta' foreva'

If you follow me on Instagram (if you're not, you should: @sweetbananie), you probably saw that I did some Harry Potter trivia a few weeks ago.
I LOVE Harry Potter.
lovelovelove.
I think J.K. Rowling is a literary GENIUS.

So, I met up with a friend at a local brewery, and we nerded out and answered questions about our favorite book series. The trivia was surprisingly hard, even for die-hard fans like us. We didn't win, but we got to talk HP without other people rolling their eyes or making fun of us, so I'd call it a good time.

And here's what I wore to nerd out and then out for drinks after. Don't worry - I didn't wear the wand and glasses (above) once trivia was done

...or did I?

mild costume change

I wore this recently on a Friday. Nothing too fancy - just a button up and a chambray skirt.
And after work, I did a quick costume change to meet up with a friend for one of these.

Bright pink shorts in place of the skirt. A bit more appropriate for a casual Friday afternoon beer with an old friend. Thinking I need to do that again - and soon!

Mr. Picks Mondays: Blushed

This blush-colored blouse is a recent addition to my closet - I found it at H&M on my recent (and quick!) trip to Florida for the 4th of July. No, it's nothing crazy (neon or sequins), or groundbreaking, or especially special, but it's a nice, solid, steady, understated classy piece that can be dressed up or down, and since it's so neutral, goes with just about anything and e'er'thang in my closet.

Exhibit A: this navy and white striped skirt.

Next up: Olive skinnies? Shorts? Another skirt?

Dressing for America's Birthday, Part II

Since this Friday is the 4th of July / America’s Birthday / Independence Day / one of the best days of the year, here is my second patriotic / festive outfit idea that I’m sharing: a tank top with stars all over it, and a simple chambray skirt that allows for lots of frolicking and cruiser-riding, which are two things I’m very into.

So, as you think about what to wear when you celebrate the 4th of July, be sure to wear something you can frolick and be ultra-American in. I suggest it be red, white, AND blue, and covered with stars & stripes, but that’s just me - I like to obnoxiously celebrate America (proof: here and here).

America's Pastime

Several weeks ago, the Mr. got tickets to watch the Rockies play from work. So we headed to Denver for an evening of baseball - the only sport I can keep up with...!

Oh, and here's a few pictures of what I wore :)
our seats - just a few rows up on the 1st base side. it's a rough life
